Our team at Monster Media Inc. recently had the distinct honor of working on a incredibly unique custom production run for a true Southern California legend: Mike Ness, front man and founder of Social Distortion. The project? Taking classic, archival "back-in-the-day" film photographs from his personal history and translating them onto a raw, organic medium: premium, custom-cut wood prints.
The Art of Fine-Art Printing on Wood
Printing vintage black-and-white or high-contrast film photography onto wood isn't as simple as loading up a standard machine and pressing print. Wood features natural grain patterns, varying density, and distinct textures that interact with ink. To preserve the raw, gritty, historic integrity of the photos without losing fine image detail, our production team had to dial in the flatbed alignment to absolute perfection.
Using our industrial grand-format flatbed printing infrastructure right here in our Riverside facility, we printed high-density, UV-cured inks directly onto the specially prepared baltic birch wood sheets. The result is a stunning, museum-quality finish where the natural warmth of the wood grain subtly bleeds through the highlights of the vintage photography, giving the images an entirely new structural life.
Built for Legends, Crafted for Everyone
Whether we are manufacturing large-format storefront signage, wedding prints or wrapping commercial window graphics on your store front, or executing fine-art material prints for iconic musicians, our mission remains exactly the same: delivery without compromise. Everything we print is processed 100% in-house utilizing our solar-powered Riverside facility—meaning zero middle-men, zero cutting corners, and total control over quality.
